5 Solar Growth Industry Predictions for 2022 and Beyond

    By Anistar Technologies | Technology | Comments are Closed | 4 November, 2021 | 1

Solar power is becoming a more powerful contender than we could have predicted amidst the scramble to leave fossil fuels in the past. With recent advancements in solar energy technology that makes powering our homes and offices more efficiently than ever, the future has never looked brighter. The fact is, solar power has continued to grow and evolve since it was initially introduced, and both businesses and families are adding more solar panels to the roofs of their buildings.

As we move headlong into 2022, the way solar energy grows with us is more important than ever. To that end, we’ve put together five industry predictions for the coming year and near future of solar.

#1 Solar Energy Investment Tax Credits Continue

Not too long ago, the United States Congress authorized a bill providing a 26% tax credit for solar energy panels. Specifically, homeowners who installed solar panels or power systems will have access to rebates on their taxes revolving around power. This is supplemented by the fact the government has extended the duration of this credit all the way into 2024, meaning Americans will be able to benefit from tax credits for years to come just by installing solar panels in their homes. This credit will continue to incentivize individuals to install solar setups to power their homes.

#2 Solar Energy is Promoting New Jobs

As solar energy grows in popularity, the number of jobs associated with the sale and installation of the required accessories will grow alongside it. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, solar photovoltaic installer jobs are seeing immense growth in availability and sustainability. As of 2020, there were over 11,000 open positions for this very role available, and the growth rate is steady at 52%, which is much faster than the national average growth rate for careers.

Furthermore, this growth is estimated to last until 2030, well past 2022. Combined with a $40,000 average salary, solar installers can enjoy a livable wage. However, if you are looking to hire, it can be a challenge to find the skill you need, though it does not have to be.

#3 Solar Costs Will Decline At A Faster Rate

As more and more people convert to solar-powered homes and offices, the cost for the necessary accessories will drop in relation to the economic swell the installers will see. According to an article by Futurism, the cost of solar energy setups will decrease by 25% by 2022 and will continue to decrease by an average of 4.4% with every passing year. This decline will make it much simpler for the average American to have a solar-powered setup than ever before.

    #4 Innovation Will Spike

As the industry grows, the demand for simple solar-powered devices will grow in popularity. This increase will lead to a new era of innovation that will allow the development of devices previously thought to be the realm of science-fiction. For example, solar-powered cell phone chargers and vehicles could arise as more people turn to solar power as the new norm.

#5 Import of Fuels Will Decrease

Once solar power has evolved enough, the theory is that we might no longer need to engage in trade with oil-rich countries to fuel our cities. Once we no longer need to rely on these countries, we might see an economic revolution that could be additionally beneficial for our economy. The fewer funds we allocate to purchasing oil stores from countries like Canada, the U.S.’s leading trading partner for fuel sources, the more we can allocate to revolutionizing our domestic products and quality of life.

    Wrapping Up

With solar power continuing to grow and advance, the need for staff to install the panels and other accessories will grow with it.
