The Senior Principal RF Engineer will support C5ISR Solutions business area in our Integrated Defense Solutions business unit providing design, testing, and evaluation support of an RF broadcast system for United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). The candidate should have a strong background in RF theory and design using the latest technologies which will contribute to the RF pathway for a media broadcast system. This system is essential for theatre commanders and supporting missions worldwide. This job is an hybrid assignment where 2-3 days are at the customer site and the remaining days are remote work.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 10 years of related experience
- Active security clearance and ability to maintain
- Experience with providing RF support to Site Acquisition and Site Construction teams
- Experience with Cellular/Mobile Technology including 4G or 5G and NR theory
- Experience Macro and small cell nominal and final RF designs including development, operations, RF KPIs, and maintenance of RF link budgets for 3GPP technologies
- Experience setting up, calibration, utilization and data processing of various LTE design and optimization equipment and software.
- Experience using propagation/planning tools such as Planet or Atoll and model calibrations
- Experience using drive test data post-processing, map generation, frequency planning and interference matrix analysis and site database maintenance using Windcatcher/Actix/Accuver
- Experience working with equipment co-location requirements for multiple operators and performing inter-modulation and other external interference analysis
- Experience working within test lab environment
- Experience in radio frequency-based technologies as well as RF hardware transceivers, antennas, and power amplifiers
- Experience in utilizing Spectrum Analyzers in-order to perform analysis, troubleshooting
- Experience reading, interpreting, and developing drawings using AutoCAD and/or 3D SolidWorks
- Experience with CONOPS formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, system & operational performance analysis
- Experience summarizing analysis into briefings/reports
- Experience creating and reviewing test and integration plans/reports
- Ability to work well in a team environment or independently as required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 8 years experience in RF Theory and Design
- Active Top Secret / SCI security clearance
- Acquisition Systems Engineering experience
- SOF acquisition experience
- Defense Acquisition University (DAU) – Engineering and Technical Management – Practitioner
- Programming language experience (C, C++, GNU Radio)
- Experience working with Software Defined Radios (SDR)s. Development experience
- Experience with signal processing theory and /or Wireless Communication theory
