3 Things Cable Technicians Need to Consider When Installing Network Cable

By Anistar Technologies | Careers, Employee Resources, Safety, Technology | Comments are Closed | 12 April, 2018 | 1

One thing that’s underappreciated about data cable pulling jobs is the high level of expertise and precision needed to do the job correctly. A small mistake can lead to some dire consequences now and in the future, so the level of detail must be top notch in any given project. Many people with cable installation technician jobs have the right amount of experience and think about the future as they are installing network cable. This is just one of the things to consider when doing a cable installation, and here are some others.

Think About The Future During Installation

What does it mean to think about the future at your cable tech jobs? Organizations should have plans for their future, and network cable installers need to know those plans to an extent. If the organization plans on expanding in the next few years, or maybe even moving locations, then what you install today may not be suitable for the future. It may not be necessary to install the best possible cable with the highest bandwidth, but installing more than what is currently needed is highly recommended.

Thinking about the future is important from the maintenance aspect of cable tech jobs as well. There will always be ongoing maintenance needed, so you can install the network cable with these considerations in mind. The ability to easily add cable or make changes later on will make your job much easier.

Follow Local Ordinances and Codes

People with cable installation technician jobs need to be informed about the local ordinances and codes. Not following these codes can create safety hazards, and can be costly. You may have to pay fines for not following codes properly and possibly even have to completely redo the project. It may seem obvious as to the reasons why knowing local ordinances and codes are important, but as you’re in the middle of the project, it’s easy to lose sight of them.

Test The Infrastructure Thoroughly

Testing every aspect of the newly installed cabling infrastructure will save some headaches in the long run. Test the bandwidth, the speed and use all the tools needed to ensure it’s ready to perform at a high level. When you test the infrastructure, consider the intended use rather than running standard tests. This will ensure the organization will be more satisfied with the project and will reduce the amount of maintenance calls or additional work in the future.

Anistar Technologies can fit the right person with the right cable tech jobs. No matter what your experience level is, the network cabling industry is in high demand, so there is a job available for you. Finding the perfect fit can be challenging, though, so contact us today to see how we can help you get started on your desired career path in network cabling.
